I am a native of Peru and a Master's student in Civil and Construction Engineering at Brigham Young University.
As a student, I also serve as the Technology chair of BYU ASCE and as an active member of the BYU Steel Bridge Club.
Currently, I work as a research assistant at the Hydroinformatics Lab of BYU, where I focus on cross-platform mobile development for hydrologic forecast visualization and alerts systems.


Experience

BYU Hydroinformatics Lab

Research Assistant

■ Develop a fully functional phone app for iOS and Android that displays flood forecast of more than 2.8 million rivers in the continental United States
■ Conducted research on data from 10 different flood storms in the United States between 2020 and 2023 as well as creating their respective maps utilizing ArcGIS Pro
■ Compared the National Water Model flow forecasts to the observed flow rate from USGS gages

Spanish Fork City Engineering Department

City Engineer Assistant

■ Assist the city engineer in managing 5+ projects simultaneously and reviewing contractor submittals to ensure compliance with city standards
■ Organize and review 30+ development application files, including plans, geotechnical, and stormwater reports as well as keeping up to date 2 city web maps on an ESRI platform
■ Conduct 10+ site visits to assess project progress and perform final inspections

Acute Engineering

Structural Engineering Intern

■ Sized and specified structural elements of 5+ residential buildings using Bluebeam and creating calculation reports with Excel
■ Created and documented 10+ spreadsheets based on standard practices and code with AutoCAD and Word
■ Researched code compliance, industry standards, new analysis tools, and market feasibility studies

Research Assistant

■ Identified 200+ Low-Head dams nationwide using Google Earth Pro for 5 different states in the US
■ Developed a database to better organize and store the work done on two different platforms

In addition to my academic pursuits, I find joy in cherishing moments with my wife and embracing the beauty of the outdoors. Throughout the year, I actively engage in soccer, while the warm months in Utah offer me the perfect opportunity to indulge in hiking, running, and exploring the wonders of our National Parks.

Even when confined indoors, I seek knowledge and inspiration through documentaries and diverse YouTube channels that keep me entertained. My passion for continuous growth drives me to invest a substantial amount of my free time in exploring new concepts and honing both professional and recreational skills, as I firmly believe that learning is an enriching lifelong journey.
